Webinar: Covid and Eating Disorders

On September 15 NEDS arranged a webinar on Covid and eating disorders. The program encompassed a research presentation by Jet Termorshuizen, Centre for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI), Karolinska Institutet. She presented results from the US, Netherlands, and Sweden on the early impact on the pandemic and follow-up data from 6 and 12 months. After the presentation a panel consisting of representatives from all Nordic countries discussed the results and their clinical experiences of the impact of the pandemic. The webinar was attended by around 60 participants.

NEDS conference 2022 – new dates

Dear Nordic colleagues,

we have a new date for you. The next Nordic ED conference will be arranged on September 7-9, 2022 in Oslo. We are so much looking forward to meeting you all again. We will open up the abstract submission system and the registration in the autumn, but please check www.nedsconference.com for any updates.

Before the conference, already in September 2021, we will arrange a webinar around the theme COVID-19 and eating disorders. The webinar will be arranged on September 15 in the afternoon. The program and registration link will be posted here as soon as the program and arrangements are ready.

A new year, hopefully a happy one

Dear members,

NEDS held its General Assembly via Zoom in November. The board was granted discharge for 2018-2019 and Rasmus Isomaa was re-elected as chairman for NEDS. Rasmus will lead the activities of NEDS for the years 2021-2024. As previously decided, the next NEDS conference will take place in Oslo in 2022 and in 2024 the conference travels to Denmark.

The main function of NEDS is to provide opportunities for Nordic ED professionals to meet and exchange ideas and experiences. Let us all hope this will be possible again in 2021 and coming years.

General assembly

The 2020 NEDS general assembly will be arranged online via Zoom  due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A link to the meeting, the agenda for the meeting and other important documents will be posted in advance of the meeting HERE

Dear colleagues, 2022 is the new 2020

This is my fifth letter pertaining to the NEDS 2020 conference and the COVID-19 situation. Unfortunately, the development of the COVID-19 situation does not allow us to arrange a Nordic conference in February 2021. The board has discussed the situation together with the Norwegian society and we have decided to once again postpone the conference.

There is reason to believe that the situation will stay uncertain for some time, we wanted to set a new date for the conference, which we strongly believe to be feasible. The next Nordic conference on eating disorders will take place in Oslo in September 2022!

Postponing the conference will lead to some special arrangements. The most important include arranging the NEDS General assembly online and rejecting all submitted abstracts.

The NEDS general assembly is an important meeting for the society. At the assembly, the activities and the economy for the society for the past two years are discussed and the board is discharged. This time we will also elect a new chairman of the NEDS board. I have served my four-year election period as chairman, but if re-elected by the assembly I am willing to serve for another four years. The general assembly is arranged via Zoom on November 16 at 18:00 Finnish time. The agenda for the meeting and a Zoom-link will be posted on the NEDS website www.neds.nu.

The abstract submission system for the conference will be temporarily closed and all submitted abstracts will be rejected. We will re-open the system and send out a new call for abstracts in the beginning of 2022.

Please follow the conference website https://nedsconference.com/ for updates, new deadlines and other useful information.

Stay safe and take care of each other! We all look forward to seeing you all once the crisis is over.

Rasmus Isomaa, chairman of the Nordic Eating Disorder Society

NEDS 2020 – Mark your calendars (again)

At our last board meeting, we decided to postpone the conference due to the COVID-19 situation. After making some arrangements and investigations, we are now ready to present the new dates for NEDS 2020. The conference will be arranged on February 3-5, 2021.

As the conference now is approximately nine months away, you will have plenty of time to prepare abstracts and presentations. We did receive 35 abstracts within the deadline for submission. We want more! We will of course re-open the abstract submission system and set a new deadline. Authors of the already submitted abstract will have the possibility to revise or withdraw their abstracts.

We have also decided to postpone the society´s general assembly. It will be arranged during the conference and the current board will continue its work until then.

Please follow our website https://nedsconference.com/ for updates, new deadlines and other useful information.

Stay safe and take care of each other! We all look forward to seeing you all once the crisis is over.

NEDS conference 2020

Mark your calendars!

The next NEDS conference will be held in Oslo at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences on September 9-11 2020. The theme of the conference is ”From prevention to recovery”. We are working on the conference web page and it will be online soon. Abstract submission will open in the beginning of 2020, so now is a good time to start planning.

New year, new activities

Dear NEDS members,

In 2018 our biannual NEDS conference was held for the first time in Iceland. The conference was in many ways a success, but also yet again a learning experience for us responsible for the arrangements. 2019 will be a bit more relaxed for NEDS, since there is no conference this year. We have however started planning the next NEDS conference, which will be held in 2020 in Oslo, Norway.

The board is continuing its work via bimonthly telephone meetings and we also try to meet in person twice every year. Our next meeting is in Copenhagen in February and we will among other things discuss rules and procedures in relation to abstract submission and conference presentations.

The NEDS conference web site www.nedsconference.com will soon be rebuilt to serve the coming conference. Stay tuned for news about important issues and activities.

Board meeting in Stockholm

The NEDS board met in Stockholm in the beginning of April. The main focus of the meeting was the upcoming conference and we managed to finalise the scientific program and attend to other important issues.

All author of submitted abstracts have been notified of acceptance or rejection, and the full program for NEDS 2018 in Reykjavik will be presented online at www.nedsconference.com soon.

The Early bird registration deadline is approaching, so if you are planning on joining us in Reykjavik now is the time to register.
